Stanton Drew is a small village in the north of Somerset. It has a famous stone circle, a cove in a pub garden and a good looking church.
The Stone Circle
This is the third largest circle of prehistoric standing stones in England with 26 huge stones. But is surprisingly also a well kept secret. Entry is not via a class and steel visitor centre but a farm gate with an honesty box. Just one pound.
Even in the pub garden there are 3 standing stones known as the Cove.
Surrounded by horse chestnut trees in their winter colours the cove is my favourite spot.
The church sits between the pub, the cove and the standing stones.
It was full of autumn colours and flowers.
