Beacon Hill Woods
One of my favourite woods – beautiful every autumn and full of ancient and recent history. It also has a website maintained by a good friend of mine so we need to support it.
Over the years I have watched this pile of logs gradually degrade back to nature.
Below there was a beautiful thick carpet of beach leaves.
And a clear blue sky above the canopy.
The wood is well known for its fungi. However, I had not expected to see the results of someones fungal foray displayed on a tree stump. Quite a collection!
It appears early in the week a group of witches celebrated the life of a shrew at the wood’s standing stone. A suitable spot for our woodland creature – hope it had a good life (but probably short life) in the woods.
