I rarely have the opportunity to travel west in Somerset but today I had a couple of free hours. It was a beautiful sunny autumn day so I headed out to Thurlbear in search of autumn colour on the Neroche Herepath.
I wanted to park in the tiny village of Thurlbear. This place is hard to find as my satnav wanted to leave me in Church Lane in nearby West Hatch. Eventually, with the aid of a good old fashioned OS map I found the start of my walk.
There were some wonderful patches of golden leaves. However, due to the thickness of the wood I found it difficult to get broader views of the trees in their autumn colour.
Don’t forget to look up as the canopy can be beautiful this time of year.
Returning to Thurlbear with a view of St Thomas’s Church and a few horses!
