I have been looking forward to the arrival of snowdrops again this year.  Some, such as those in the Uphill Donkey Field, popped up very early.  Many have not started to appear. And some, like those in the small village of Blackford in South Somerset are already perfect.

St Michaels Church in Blackford

The beautiful church in Blackford has a large churchyard with a broad border of snowdrops.  In the unexpected winter sunlight they sparkled.

Clearly, I had to photograph them in a soft winter afternoon back light.  Only problem was a parked works lorry with orange flashing lights that restricted the angles.

At this time of year you have to hunt down the best blooms – many are still closed.

Getting sharp pictures was difficult as a breeze was blowing.  It does not take much to keep the flowers bobbing about.
