Lynchcombe Steps
Lynchcombe
Recently Somerset Wildlife Trust contractors and volunteers have been out clearing scrub and fixing fences around the nature reserve.
There are still plenty of sheep sharing the steep Lynchcombe fields with those higher up in Deerleap.
This time of year the blackthorn is out in bloom.
The flowers attract the few butterflies that are already out and amount.
This peacock butterfly was beautiful.
While this speckled wood preferred to rest on the ground.
And Finally…
I watched this beetle walking around a clump of moss next to a dry-stone wall.
It struggled to get passed some wire fencing. It did not seem to know what to do – it simply crawled along it until if bumped its head on the wire.
Eventually, it decided just to fall off.
