All Saints Church
This is a picture of the 800 year old church in Kingsdon that I took during a beautiful winter afternoon. Today I was drawn back to this small village in South Somerset by the sea of yellow fields.
I wanted to photograph the church in the distance across the fields. Despite following several public footpaths across the fields I could get a clear view back to the church. Its also a bit too early in the season – there will be more yellow flowers later.
Instead, I headed up to the church to see what was growing in the church yard.
What I found was beautiful pink blossom.
Most of the grass had recently been cut but the border lining the church path was full of bluebells. Plus, to my surprise this small Cinnamon Bug. This species has been heading north and inland recently – good to see it leaving the beach for new pastures.
Unlike this good looking bug, the Spanish bluebells on which it was resting were a relatively recent introduction.
