Milton Road Cemetery

Milton Road in the north of Weston-super-Mare was the site chosen in the nineteenth century to build the cemetery for the quickly growing population.

As you can see it is located between the sea front and Bristol.  But it is also an area used for burials as far back as the Bronze Age.

The chapel with its octagonal spire is made from local pink limestone.

Large cemeteries like this always have their un-tidy corners – places for wildlife.

Here you can find bluebells, cow parsley and lots of orange tip butterflies.
