Parrock Hill and The Beacon
Corton Denham is a small village tucked away within an amazing hills. I went there to photograph snowdrops, but they were not yet open so I went for a walk around Cadbury Castle (Camelot Fort) and stayed to watch a sunset.
Frost had stayed all day on the north facing slopes of Pen Hill.
Parrock Hill is fascinating. It stands tall like another Glastonbury Tor but instead of a tower it has a small line of trees.
These trees give the hill scale. Its steep sides do not see much of the low winter sun.
I decided to pitch my tripod and watch the sun drop through the v-shaped gap between The Beacon and Parrock Hill. I moved that tripod further and further down the footpath that runs along the valley. Judging where the sun would go was not easy.
The sun quickly passes through the gap.
I do like those trees.
The last glimpse of the sun as it disappears behind the hill.
Now I just had to find my way back to Cadbury Castle car park in the dark.
