Langport

Following on from Storm Ciara last week, Storm Dennis arrived over the weekend. Both brought heavy rain and winds.  On the Somerset Levels it also brought floods.

The River Parrett burst its banks at Langport creating an inland sea.

Standing next to the river the sound of the huge amounts of water pouring over the banks was dramatic.

This is a pumping station, but little point in pumping today.

The Parrett Trail cycle path as under a foot of water, and it probably got deeper on the way to Muchelney.

Around the corner King’s Sedge Moor was under water.

From Blind Man’s Gate the village of  looked like an island.
