Going for a Ride
I have been going for lots of cycle rides as the lockdown eases. Its a time to escape for a couple of hours in the middle of the week and enjoy some sunshine.
On the Levels
Perfect for cycling the Somerset Levels offers miles of virtually traffic free flat country lanes. Every few miles you will reach a small village marked out with black and white finger posts.
Mr Blue Sky
Astonishing deep blue skies, rare for our British summers.
The weather has been perfect this spring and summer.
Buttercups everywhere.
Finger Posts
Many of the traditional finger posts have been beautifully restored.
The skies are so blue against their white paint.
Some still need a coat of paint.
Others will need a bit more work.
Flowers
In this patch of England, however little, there are always flowers.
A drainage ditch becomes a wildlife haven.
Meadow sweet covers the fields and lines the ditches.
A working place
The levels are a place for workers too.
And a few old timers.
Some vehicles have not moved much during the pandemic.
And finally…
Time to get some shade wherever it can be found.
