Between the flat levels and the steep sides of the Mendip Hills are a line of strawberry farms.
Sheltered from the wind on the sunny southern slopes of the Mendips around Cheddar a railway line carried fresh strawberries to markets in London. The railway line is now distant history. One day it may become a cycle way. But after decades of hoping I’m starting to think it will never happen.
Today you can buy strawberries from huts on the side of the road between Wells and Cheddar.
Nearby, at Westbury-sub-Mendip there is a door way that l have wanted to photograph for a long time – this summer it looked great.
Visit http://www.thestrawberryline.org.uk if you would like to support the cycle way.
