Starling Trail

The starlings have finally moved away from Walton Heath and Loxtons Marsh.  A small group is still dropping down in Walton Heath near the first platform but most of the birds have headed deep into the reserve.

I had hoped the birds were going to roost near Wilderness Drove but they went deeper, much deeper, towards the small village of Stileway.  From the second viewing platform the birds quickly faded into the darker skies looking north.

View Platform

Large crowds watch the birds fly over the second viewing platform.

Huge Numbers

There are still huge numbers of birds arriving in mega-flocks.
