Catching up with the beasts from the east when snow covered Somerset.
I have rarely visited this Somerset Wildlife Trust nature reserve on the side of the Mendip Hills. Not sure why. Today after the snow it looked beautiful against a blue sky.
The track up the hill from Cheddar, passed Mascall’s Wood, leads up to Bubwith Acres.
Through the gate is a landscape of hawthorn, scrub and gorse.
Gorse trapped the snow blowing across the reserve during yesterday’s blizzard.
Like many reserves on the southern ridge of the Mendip Hills it has wide views across the Somerset Levels.
