Catching up with the beasts from the east when snow covered Somerset.
I had hoped to visit Middledown during the blizzard but it was just too far to walk and too risky to drive. But today, with its beautiful blue skies, it could not get any better.
The snow had blown across the open grasslands of this Somerset Wildlife Trust reserve. Most hiding in drifts behind the dry-stone walls. Leaving much of the reserve free from snow.
In the middle of Middledown is this disused farmstead.
Behind its ruins the ponies sheltered from the wind.
Even the simplest details look amazing in the snow.
