Beacon Hill Woods
The Beacon Hill woods are one of my favourites woods. High on the hills above Shepton Mallet in Somerset it it full of history. I recently joined the Beacon Hill Society, something I should have done years ago.
They have very kindly used one of my pictures on the cover of their website. It was pointed out to me that all my pictures were taken during the autumn and winter. Where was spring and summer? They were not wrong.
The classic shot of the standing stone surrounded by autumn golds.
This year the beasts from the east created a winter wonderland across these high woodlands.
I took this pictures winter 11 years ago and was the only picture I could find in my collection. Next spring I should get out to photograph the bluebells.
And Finally Summer…
It was too late to do spring this year but there was still a chance for summer. But this has been a very busy summer so I waited for some warm morning light. The standing stone did look good surrounded by green instead of brown or white.
