Lamyat Summer Dawn
Lamyat is small parish in the middle of Somerset north of the town of Castle Cary. At the west end the fields are flat while the east is dominated by the 199m high Creech Hill.
I saw these bales in this field on the way to work and waited several days for a good sunrise over Creech Hill in the distance. Today it was perfect, just as well as a couple of days later the bales were gone.
Low cloud hangs around the Hill while the golden sunlight illuminates the field.
As the sun rises the colours gradually change.
Looking back though the seasons at this popular location. This is a great spot as a lay-by makes it easy to pull over and have a look.
Back in winter the colours were so different.
While in spring there were some classic red skies.
Lamyat (with one tee) is the parish, while Lamyatt (with two tees) is its village. During autumn high up on Creech Hill the low light was beautiful.
The village church is very picturesque.
