Starling Trail
After the excitement of a full moon it was back to normal at RSPB Ham Wall.
Starlings
Today I went to all the right places, but not necessarily in the right times. Wherever I went the birds went somewhere else. Spreading out across the reserve – some to the Waltons, some to Loxtons, some to Phase One and some far far away near Wilderness Drove.
I caught a few glimpses of the flocks in the dark. The best thing about the pictures taken in the dark is the colour they come out – dark blue with a hint of pink.
A line of starlings flies over the lagoon in Waltons Heath. Each bird became a streak of dark. Completely ignored by the ducks.
The highlight for me was a great white egret flying off with the starlings. It was so dark you could hardly see your own feet!
