Starling Trail
Starlings at Dawn
I chance visit on the way to work at Ham Wall to watch the starlings leave the roost. RSPB Ham Wall is a beautiful spot in the morning and only a short stroll from a car park.
The birds are in Waltons Heath East, where the Tor View hides put you at the centre of the action.
First, the ducks make a quick escape before the noise and chaos takes over. In the opposite direction Great White Egrets and Marsh Harriers arrive hoping to catch a starling.
As if a starting gun was fired the starlings lift into the sky.
Soon the sky is full of birds heading out over the farmland for the day.
