Bishops Snowdrops
The Gardens
The Bishop’s Palace in Wells is about to start several weekends of Snowdrop Celebrations. Visitors will be able to enjoy a carpet of snowdrops around the Gardens.
So I sneaked in early to see how they were doing.
The low winter light brings life to the white flowers.
The weather has not been great and the flowers were still covered in rain drops.
Rain drops and snow drops look good. But what I really wanted so a wintry showers.
I took a break from photographing to get my hair cut. When under the scissors there was a huge hail storm. The streets turned white but I missed everything – by the time I got out it had all melted.
A few days later I dashed down to the palace in the middle of another hail storm. When I got to the palace the gates they were closed – a film crew were busy working in the gardens.
Having missed the hail twice, I finally got some winter scenes during a cold morning frost.
I love snowdrops because they look delicate, but in reality they are tough enough to stand up to the winter.
And Finally…
The palace moat in the morning mist.
