Mendip Sunset
Perfect Sunset
I looked out my window, saw the clear blue sky, and immediately thought there could be good sunsets this evening. I quickly packed my camera and tripod and dashed up the Mendip Hills to the Deerleap picnic car park. I did not know then how perfect the sunset was going to be.
Across the Deerleap field for a classic view of the Lynchcombe sycamores.
I had seen pictures of this gateway on the internet, but despite literally hundreds of visits to Lynchcombe I had not found it. Crazy, its only a few metres from the top corner of Lynchcombe.
The sun dropped behind the Isle of Wedmore in the Axe Valley.
After the sun had disappeared below the horizon this group of sheep came other to see what I was doing.
With the sun gone the sky gradually turned red.
Time to head back to the car park.
The sky above Glastonbury Tor had turned blue and pink.
Looking back, the sycamores looked as if they were on fire.
And Finally…
Back at the picnic site the pussy willow tree made a great silhouette.
