Milborne Wick
Milborne Wick
The hamlet of Milborne Wick lies just north of its much bigger neighbour Milborne Port on the Somerset and Dorset border. It is hidden away in a steep sided valley tucked out of sight. In the middle is an old mill that used to grind grain for flour.
It is on one of my regular cycle routes, and an old running route, and sits in the middle of some lovely countryside.
I do like an old road sign. Many of these old finger posts are being done-up around Somerset. But I wonder what happened to the top finger.
Snowdrops
In the valley there are series of mill ponds with lots of snowdrops. But there is no public access. Instead I found some in growing in the verges alongside the lanes. Normally road side snowdrops get dirty very quickly – I guess the village does not get much traffic.
They could be a bit cleaner.
