A village and a hill
I have been on some long cycle rides recently. Today I had a ride to the sea side stopping off at the village of Brent Knoll on the way home.
The village church is tucked away up a steep lane. I nearly cycled passed, but fortunately I decided to pull in and take a break from all that pedalling.
The sun was out and the churchyard flowers had attracted lots of butterflies.
I could not get a wide enough shot of the whole church. Instead I looked around for some smaller details.
Nearby is this wonderful set of finger posts. All around Somerset these are being restored.
Brent Knoll is also the hill around which the village is wrapped. It’s a local landmark in the flat lands of the Somerset Levels.
In the winter the scene can look very different as mist covers the side of the hill.
