Stockhill Wood
Stockhill Woods
Walking in woodland is a great way to get some fresh air during the lockdown. Stockhill has loads of footpaths. Some are wide, firm and level while other are more challenging and muddy.
But for many these woods are the perfect place for building a hide out.
High up in the Mendip Hills, in Somerset, the wood was covered in fog.
Despite the fog they are a great place to see autumn colours.
The wood is owned by the forestry commission, and much of it is covered in dark thick plantations of conifers. But my favourite are the old beach trees.
Some form lines alongside the dry stone wall boundaries to the wood.
Others form wide muddy glades.
Away from the mud they are a great place for a family walk.
And Finally…
On returning to the car park the sun came out!
