Back to Bagley
I came across beautiful field in Bagley while out on by bicycle looking for dandelions earlier in the year. Cycling is a great way to see the landscape, you are high enough to peer over some of the hedges, and slow enough to have time to appreciate the world.
There is a footpath crossing the field, nevertheless I got permission from the farmer to come back to take some pictures.
Early Morning
Hidden in the grass was a fresh common blue trying to get as much of the low morning sun as possible.
The grass was very wet, and so were my feet. Which nearly stepped on this recently emerged emperor dragonfly. It was deep in the grass near the ground.
A glorious field for buttercups.
And the odd ladybird out for an early morning stroll.
The Afternoon
Later in the day, when things had warmed up I returned to the field.
Amazingly the emperor was virtually in the same spot. I was looking a lot dryer, and it must be getting ready for its first flight soon.
The field is covered in buttercups and cow parsley.
With a pink under story of clover.
