Lynchcombe Gate
Autumn Equinox
I normally head up Glastonbury Tor to welcome the equinox with lots of other people. But this autumn I wanted a simpler evening and so I drove up to Lynchcombe on the Mendip Hills.
My plan was to photograph the setting sun through the sycamore trees that stand at the top of the nature reserve. However the angles were not going to work. So I dropped down the footpath to the kissing gate. This time a check using the Sun Seeker app showed the path the setting sun would be perfect to illuminate the path through the gate.
An hour later and the sun arrived on cue.
The last sunset marking the end of summer.
Beyond a light mist was already beginning to form around Brent Knoll and the wide open valley of the River Axe.
