Dawn at the Beech
Pelting Drove
Pelting Drove leads on from Deerleap towards the Mendip village of Priddy in Somerset. As you pass over top of the hill from Wells there is a clump of beech trees on the right.
At this time of year the early morning sun cuts through low to the ground, brushing against the trees, through a gate, and spills on to the drove.
I have photographed these trees in mist, and in snow. But during an autumn dawn they are at their best.
And finally…
Early in the year the mist between the trees creates a bar code.
