Starling Trail
Starling Trail – Back on!
This was a day I had looked forward to since the start of the pandemic – a return to watch the starling murmurations over the Somerset Levels at RSPB Ham Wall.
It was hard to know where the best view point would be, and I do not think I found it. We watched some small groups fly overhead.
Despite the low numbers of birds the sky was so dramatic that it made up for it. It has been a long time since I had seen clouds as red as these.
The birds continued to fly passed in small groups, on to somewhere else to roost for the night.
And finally…
The bright sky had disappeared, but on my return walk to the car park a large flock appeared from behind the trees and overhead.
