RobinRobin the film was a bit too dark for me, but I welcomed this little robin at Ham Wall.  This robin is a regular visitor to the first viewing platform.

The weather was dark and flat this evening but the starlings put on a wonderful display as they returned to their roost in the reed beds.  With the number of birds has increased to about quarter of a million so things should only get better.  I just hope the flock does not split-up across the reserve.

Thousands of starling swirling around as they drop into the reeds.

It looks like medlum, but the birds have their own order.

Some patterns in the sky.  I think this was a whale, but I’m not sure about that.

This could be an owl swooping down.

A drifting cloud of birds is probably the most common pattern!

The clouds soon start to rain birds, turning the reeds black.
