Off Broadway
Broadway Hill over looks the village of Westbury-sub-Mendip in Somerset. It is itself overlooked by the Mendip Hills. Being a bit lower it is a great vantage point for watching the mist over the Axe Valley towards Glastonbury Tor.
First light before the sun appears and the Tor is surrounded by golden pink mist.
You can see the Yarley Tree on the ridge above the villages of Yarley and Henton.
It is getting a bit brighter. Often, I am at the top of the Tor looking down across the mist. Today it was interesting to see it from a different perspective.
The narrow lanes lead out from Westbury-sub-Mendip into the Axe Valley. Beyond is the Devil’s Bedstead also known as Chalcroft Hill.
The Axe Valley is peppered with small hills. This winter trees on Windmill Hill, then the twin peaks of Knowle Hill and Yarley hill in the distance.
And finally…
Driving home I had to stop to photograph the chimney of St Cuthbert’s paper mill rising out of the mist.
