Priddy Snowdrops
Priddy
This village sits high up in the Mendip Hills. It has a church, shop, a pub and a central green and lots of social events. So it is a really good village!
The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Alongside its country lanes are patches of snowdrops.
Roadside snowdrops are troublesome to photograph. Traffic covers the little white flowers in grime.
So you need to invest the time to walk around and find the best flowers.
And finally…
By the time I visited Priddy the snowdrops were beginning to turn. Bees were pottering about the flower heads.
As they flower so early, snowdrops do not rely on pollinators to reproduce. Instead, they spread via bulb division. However, they may still be visited by bees and other insects on a particularly warm day. Woodland Trust
It did not feel like it, but perhaps today was one of those particularly warm days?
