Primroses in the churchyard of St Edwards in the village of Chilton Polden
Chilton Polden
The village of Chilton Polden sits on the Polden Ridge in Somerset. Its location is at the precise geographical centre of Somerset.
In spring the churchyard comes into bloom with magnolia, celandines, daffodils and primroses.
The magnolia blossom is beautiful. It hangs over a bed of yellow celandines.
At ground level looking across the blanket of yellow celandines it is hard to believe you are in a churchyard.
However, my favourites are the numerous primroses. I spot them every spring when I cycle passed. I often pause to lean over the churchyard wall. This year I finally stopped with my camera to have a good look.
