Lynchcombe Steps
Before an update on the Lynchcombe nature reserve. This autumn saw the return of Somerset Art Weeks with the theme of Sanctuary. Landing in the Deerleap picnic site was the Pollinator Sanctuary by lear artist Kelly M O’Brien.
The Deerleap car park has been busy the last couple of months with sometimes 10 camper vans in residence. It is a beautiful spot to visit.
Lynchcombe
Autumn provides some great views from Lynchcombe and its neighbouring Deerleap fields. View stretch to the Bristol Channel and beyond. Currently, Big Carl the world’s largest crane is being used to help build Hinkley C nuclear power station. There is nothing to protect us between Hinkley Point and the Mendip Hills so lets all hope it is safe.
That is a sunset not a meltdown…
Below the Mendip Hills is a patchwork of small fields and small hills covering the Somerset Levels.
Back on the reserve…
Autumn is a time that migrant hawkers are passing through. For a reserve with no streams or ponds there are often a lot of dragonflies and damselflies about.
… and fungi of many colours appear. I’m not so good at identifying fungi so fingers crossed I go this one right.
There are even a few butterflies hanging around, but looking a bit worn out.
And finally…
In case there is any confusion I had nothing to do with the creation, or any other aspect, of the Pollinator Sanctuary. I just took some photographs everything else was all down to the hard work of others whom I would like to thank. Hopefully, these links will help:
