Starling Trail
Today at Ham Wall this evening’s wait for the arrival of the starlings flocks started with more showers and another wonderful rainbow.
It has been an exciting week at the reserve with the fabulous installation of new windows on the south facing side of the Avalon Hide.
Thanks you RSPB!
Those windows gave a whole new perspective as the birds flew low and fast over the hide and on towards the setting sun.
Soon the golden sky was filling up with starlings.
A sparrowhawk decided to have a bit of fun with the flock.
Waves of starlings poured across the horizon.
… and streamed in long continuous lines in front of the setting sun.
Before pouring like rain into the reed-bed.
And finally…
The last few birds always arrive in the dark.
