Starling Trail
A beautiful sunset this evening at RSPB Ham Wall.
The starlings are moving their roost site from the northern edge of the reserve to a reed bed called Walton Heath. This is popular location as it is close to the car park, hopefully they will continue to roost here over Christmas.
A swan shows the starling little interest. Hard to imagine given the noise they are making.
The starlings take a long time to settle and continue to move in waves across the heath.
It was a beautiful sky.
There is a lot of room in Walton Heath for a few hundred thousand starlings. Despite this many lift into the air to fly back to their old roost.
A patch of red sky provides the backdrop.
Amazing.
Even in the dark they continue to stream back to the old roost site.
