December Mist
Judging from the hoar frost on Somerset’s Mendip Hills winter is on its way. Sadly, I missed the best of the frost. The ice crystals were already raining down from the trees. So I changed tack and headed over to Lynchcombe to check out the mist over the Somerset Levels.
At Deerleap, above Wells, the levels were covered in think fog. Starlings had already left their roost and were flying around the fields.
I had hoped to see Glastonbury Tor spoking out of the mist – but sadly no. I decided to wait, perhaps it would only take a few minutes?
Hours later it finally appeared… just visible over the mist.
The sky was full of colour and the think mist was breaking up into drifting clouds.
The golden horizon, passing clouds and a sea of mist around the mystical tor was worth the long cold wait.
