Compton Bishop
The Somerset village of Compton Bishops sits nestled under Crook Peak and Wavering Down.
I wanted to photograph the church and village in the long shadows of a winter morning. So, before dawn I wondered up the side of Crook Peak and set up my tripod next to a gap in the trees. From this spot there were views of the entire village, then across the Somerset Levels to Cheddar.
Surrounding the village the fields were covered in a light frost.
Soon the church was bathed in the winter sunshine.
In the church yard a few snowdrops had braved the weather.
There are not many so I searched out the best I could find.
And finally…
Looking the other way towards Brent Knoll the fields were covered in ridge and furrow lines.
