I’m always on the look out for more snowdrop locations in Somerset.  While there are some fabulous wild locations, such as Mells and Wheddon Cross, the best way to search for new sites is to checkout our churchyards.  Passing through Milborne Port today I had to pull over and look for snowdrops.

Milborne Port is a large, but friendly village in the South Eastern part of Somerset, on the edge of the Blackmore Vale and close to the Dorset border.

At first there were no snowdrops to see, but in the far corner there were loads. I liked the way the warm winter sunlight was shining through the old metal railings.

Brings back memories, as I used to be at Henstridge just up the A30. If you haven’t been Springhead at Fontmell Magna is a stunning snowdrop location.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your comment. My day job is just up the road from Henstridge. I recently popped into the church there and found a few snowdrops. Thanks for the info on Springhead. I will definitely add that to my must visit list. Thanks, Jeff
