Yarley Hill
A few years ago I often visited to this ash tree up on the hill above the village of Yarley in Somerset. Today, with a favourable weather forecast, I made a nostalgic trip to say hello to this old friend.
It turned out to be a beautiful morning.
With ash dieback spreading everywhere in England at the moment this lovely tree may not be around for long.
Unexpectedly, I got distracted by the distant views of Wells Cathedral across the Axe Valley.
I changed position to get a better view of the Cathedral when I stumbled across a patch of cowslips spreading down the hill.
I swapped lenses and tried to capture the cowslips against the soft morning sunlight. Totally ignoring the golden sun rising over the Mendip Hills.
And finally…
Back home, and still feeling creative, I played with the pictures back home on my computer.
Same picture but now set in winter!
