Hawthorn in Bloom
Over the last couple of weeks hawthorn has been out in bloom all across the Mendips Hills in Somerset.
Combined with blue skies it has been a fantastic display.
Unfortunately, my day job has kept me busy, and I’m in training for a 414 mile cycle ride with a group of mad friends in a few weeks. But I did find time to visit Priddy Mineries and Deerleap up in the Mendips.
The sheep do not care about the never ending views across the Somerset Levels. They are happy to stay in the shade under the hawthorn trees.
And finally..
Pignut is out in flower all over the fields, combined with the hawthorn blossom who could ask for more?
The hawthorn was picture perfect this year – one Saturday driving up the M5 in Somerset it was like driving through a snow scene – stunning synchronised bloom burst.
Thanks for your comment. I agree it was a stunning year for hawthorn. I feel that I missed the best due to work commitments, so I never got that perfect picture. Jeff
