Starling Trail
Another week visiting the starling murmurations on the Avalon Marshes. This time the birds selected a roosting site over in the far west side of Shapwick Heath nature reserve.
Day One
Great sunset this evening. Shapwick Heath covers a huge area. I did not know the best place to watch, so I decided to wait somewhere near the middle of the main drove.
Sadly, the starlings chose to roost in the distance over the far trees. However, we did get to watch several groups of starlings fly overhead heading off into the glorious sunset.
Day Two
The beautiful skies of the previous day were a distant past. But by finding a much better spot it was an amazing evening.
The weather was dull, but not black and white!
The murmuration is awesome when the birds are this close.
It was not so a flock as a swarm!
