Moor Flooding
After all the rain over the last few days it was no surprise that the water that fell on the Mendip Hills was going to find its way to the moors on the Somerset Levels. In the evening there was some interesting clouds around Splotts Moor and Glastonbury Tor.
Having scouted the area a plan was put in place to return in the next morning – as long the the weather holds.
Next Morning
Back before first thing on a very cold morning the next day, Despite the distant rain there was a gap in the clouds along the horizon that promised the chance of a clear sunrise.
Before the sun appeared the camera recorded some beautiful colours across the floods.
The best colours are often half an hour before the sun appears.
Sunrise
By sunrise most of the rain had disappeared. The flood water was clear and smooth across the moor.
It did not take long before the heavy rain returned spoiling the reflections. Just enough time for another sunrise picture through the trees.
Starling Flyover
The flocks of starlings from the Avalon Marshes. They leave their roost amongst the reeds and spread out across the Somerset countryside.
If you are out and about just after sunrise on the Somerset Levels you should look up for starlings.
