At the Somerset Wildlife Trust hide a hen harrier does a fly-by at Catcott.  It spent time hunting, studying the reeds and long grass, before disappearing out of sight.

Next a marsh harrier spooks a flock of wigeon into the sky.  But it had no interest in making chase.

The Ringtail

Not long after the female hen harrier returns.  They are sometimes known as ringtails because of the ring patterns on their tails.  Their appearance and behaviour reminds me of owls.

Meanwhile over at RSPB Greylake

The same morning across at Greylake nature reserve a huge flock of wigeon take to the air.  This time because of a scary white trunk rather than a harrier.
