Lytes Cary Manor
Lytes Cary Manor
I visited Lytes Cary on the bounce from Montacute House. This was my first visit so I did not know what to expect. What I found was an old medieval house and garden full of wonderful little corners and hidden treasures.
Unfortunately, parts of the garden were closed due to amount of rain we have had recently. So I missed out on repeating a wonderful picture of the house and daffodils on the manor’s website.
The light was not the best, so time to focus on close ups and textures.
Unlike Montacute most of the rooms in the house were still open downstairs and upstairs. Just one room was close. I was told this was due to the lack of staff. I think they were up to something in there.
There are lots of small curiosities like tiny windows.
… and some interesting details in the stain glass.
I was a bit disappointed by the lack of daffodils and closure of some parts of the gardens. Despite this there was plenty to see and I really enjoyed my visit.
Special thanks too all the guides and their fascinating and funny talks.
And finally…
My only regret was the not stopping off at the cafe!
