Leap into Spring
Road side red campion is sign that spring is well underway. In the fields the dandelions have gone to seed and the buttercups have won the race to take over.
A steep narrow road called Deerleap winds its way up the edge of the Mendip Hills from Wookey Hole towards Priddy. Even now that the cattle grids have been replaced with hedges this space still has an open feel. Perhaps it is those views – they are as good as anywhere.
There are also standing stones that add a timeless quality.
One of last year’s peacock butterflies has made it through the winter and enjoys a few more days in the sun.
And finally…
The Deerleap tree stands in a sea of yellow. Long may it keep standing.
