Long July Evenings
July is time to forget politics and enjoy a sun soaked evening strolling slowly through the warm Somerset countryside.
There are so many beautiful places to walk, but my favourites are the grassland nature reserves on the top of Mendip Hill plateau.
A sea or golden grass, flowers and butterflies.
The sun seems to hang in the sky not wanting to set. It’s golden light warming the grasslands.
The best time to see the lumps and dumps of the ancient Mendip landscape.
In every corner there are butterflies to watch.
Whether they are the rare dark green fritillary or the common brown it does not matter.
Or a dash of soft blue on Draycott Sleights.
So draw yourself away from politics and head up to Cooks Fields, Draycott Sleights, Blackmoor or Ubley Warren amongst many other fabulous locations.
And finally…
Take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the sun set.
