Going Dippy!
I recently headed out of Somerset hoping to photograph Dippers in the Lyn River. While most of Exmoor is in Somerset this little corner of beautiful countryside is in the neighbouring country of Devon.
After hours of walking along the river with no luck it was time to rest up at a riverside cafe.
In the UK the wildlife is small and the light is often poor, especially under trees. Carrying a telephoto with a maximum aperture of just f8 and the challenges keep coming. But great fun.
As I approached the end of the walk my luck finally changed as a dipper popped out into the open.
They are great fun to watch as they dip in and out of the water. I loved the way the little bird buried its head under the surface. Water splashing all around but never getting wet.
And finally…
Thank you dipper for making my day.
