Lynchcombe Steps
I understand that snow can be annoying for some people. But for those with the time and ability to go out for a walk in the countryside then it is amazing. Converting the every day landscape into a winter wonder land.
I’m lucky to be surrounded by beautiful countryside. So it was time to stroll up the hill behind my house.
This pussy willow is a pretty famous landmark. Despite some recent storm damage it still looks great.
From Deerleap it is a short walk to the Lynchcombe nature reserve.
Lots of animal tracks criss cross the grassland. But I left disappointed, not seeing Rusty the fox or the any of the deer.
The snow was not very deep – but who cares.
The reserve offers lots of views across the Somerset Levels.
Not forgetting the details in the things we walk by.
At the top of Lynchcombe is the strange fence. I have seen it so many times that I’m beginning to like it. But perhaps it should be a dry-stone wall?
The next-door reserve is called Cooks Fields, and this group of trees provides a good focal point.
And finally…
The day was as much about the brilliant blue sky as it was the white snow.
