Starling Trail
John Crispin’s recent blog inspired me to get up way too early and watch the Starlings leave their roost in the Walton’s reed-bed on Ham Wall.
I could not have more excited, and nervous – would the birds be there. I rarely go to the Starlings unless I have a good idea where on the Avalon Marshes they a likely to be. As soon as I arrived at the car park and met John with a group of other Starling watchers I stopped worrying.
This early in the season the numbers of birds is still low and they did not put on the best display. But combined with a wonderful mist the birds lifted into the calm sky.
