Winter Walk

Christmas holidays is a time for a winter walk on a crisp frosty sunny day.  Cold but beautiful.  Somerset at its best with a stroll around the base of Glastonbury Tor.

I was given a book on ancient trees on the UK for Christmas.  In it were some great trees many of which I have visited, except for the two nearest trees to my home – Gog and Magog.  At the base of Glastonbury Tor these ancient oak trees (one now dead) could be 2000 years old.  They were once part of an avenue of oaks leading to the Tor.

On walks like this my wife gets very frustrated when I stop to take photographs.  To me it feels as if I only stopped for a few minutes while I check out angles or wait for the sun to come out from behind a cloud.  In reality its much longer.  On a cold day like today I understand her feelings.
