Starling Trail
It is hard to predict where the Starlings are going to roost. However, there appears to be an annual pattern that is loosely followed. Starting in Stileway, moving into Ham Wall around Christmas (great for visitors) then on to Shapwick Heath and Westhay Heath before returning to Stileway.
This year they did just that as the birds returned to Stileway. The birds gather in the fields around the village. There is virtually no parking in the village so you will need to walk or cycle from Meare. Alternatively, the birds can be seen looking north from the platforms on Ham Wall.
